We are building history

Urban Olympia is a group of residential and commercial real estate professionals who are passionate about downtown development. Each of our buildings is designed to be within walking distance to everything people need. In fact, we believe in walkability so much that it is one of our company values.

In addition to walkability, we believe in the power of community. Everything we build is designed with people in mind because we want our tenants and partners to feel connected with each other and the places where they live, shop and work.

Honoring the local community also means preserving the architecture and character of every city. We build to blend with the backdrops of the cities you love. Our investment in community extends beyond buildings. We are also active members of the community and support local organizations and businesses through philanthropic giving.

We offer tenants a variety of options for living spaces and we offer investors the opportunity to be a part of a portfolio project with promise. Together we are all building history.

Meet the team

Walker John, Owner

Favorite restaurant: “I love Chelsea Farms Oyster Bar because it is a stylish and contemporary restaurant with fresh seafood.”

Favorite thing to do downtown Olympia: Investing in urban development and supporting the revitalization of the downtown core.

Walker founded Urban Olympia in 2012. Prior to investing in the revitalization of downtown Olympia, he worked for CE John Company for 18 years and was the Seabrook Land Company CFO for eight. He has a business degree from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and attended the University of Portland for his Masters of Business Administration. He is passionate about urban development and wants to create a downtown core that supports walkable lifestyles.

Jessie Wilson, Development Manager

Favorite restaurants: “I love Mexican food, my favorite restaurants are Koko’s and Dos Hermanos.” Koko’s Restaurant and Tequila Bar is a unique spot with excellent food and drinks. Say yes to the jalapeno margarita and the chicken enchiladas. Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen, located in the 222 Market building, is such a cool downtown location. Order a hibiscus margarita and the carnitas tacos. Plus, you can’t go wrong with the fresh chips and guacamole at either restaurant.

Favorite thing to do downtown Olympia: The Farmers Market. “Go for lunch and bring your reusable bag so you bring home vegetables, jam, cheese, chocolate, wild-caught salmon and locally-made soap.”

Jessie has worked in real estate for two decades. Her career began in Las Vegas and her experience includes working for small and large commercial real estate firms in a variety of roles. She and her husband moved to Olympia because they wanted to live in a smaller town and close to hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. She joined the Urban Olympia team four years ago and delights in helping grow a community where neighbors know each other and are steps away from places to eat and things to do.

Teri Haglund, Designated Broker Property Manager

Favorite restaurant:Pizzeria La Gitana. I’m gluten intolerant and they’re very careful during food prep to ensure no cross-contamination.”

Teri is an expert in downtown living. She has been helping people find homes that match their lifestyles for more than thirty years. She earned her Washington State broker’s license in 2004 and has worked within the scope of property management, sales and leasing in Thurston County ever since. Teri’s experience ranges from multi-family and single-family homes to new construction and independent investment properties. She is now the designated broker for all of the Urban Management Co. inventory. The partnership includes all of Urban Olympia’s buildings and she will continue to work on leasing and management throughout the downtown area.
